Screenshot of a forerunner software realised with Borland Delphi 7. Images were acquired on an inverse phase–contrast microscope (Nikon Diaphot-TMD, Nikon, Düsseldorf, Germany) equipped with a Styrofoam-isolated lucite cube enclosing the stage.

A commercial hipbone-derived osteogenic cell line (HHOBc, PromoCell, Heidelberg, Germany) cultivated using standard osteoblast cultivation medium. Images were acquired on an inverse phase–contrast microscope (Nikon Diaphot-TMD, Nikon, Düsseldorf, Germany) and recorded with a CCD camera (The ImagingSource DFK 41BF02, The ImagingSource Europe GmbH, Bremen, Germany).
